Pussy Riot as an opposition to the current political system in Russia

A poet and member of the punk rock protest group Pussy Riot, concentrating on feminism, LGBT rights in Russia, and acting in opposition to the current political system in Russia represented by President Vladimir Putin. After a nearly two-year-long imprisonment following a protest concert held in the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour in Moscow, Maria, together with her fellow Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, focuses on a campaign concerning human rights violations in Russian prisons, on political prisoners and on raising awareness of this topic internationally.
