Umbrella Revolution in Hong Kong

Professor of Political Science at the Hong Kong University, Joseph Cheng is one of the founders of Occupy Central, a civil disobedience movement that lured to the streets many Hong Kong students in the past couple of days. Cheng also helped to establish the Civic Party. Since 1980s, he has been associated with the Hong Kong democratic movement. He is one of the founding editors of the specialized periodicals Hong Kong Journal of Social Sciences and The Journal of Comparative Asian Development. He was also the founding president of the Association for Asian Studies. He is respected for his social and political activities not only in Hong Kong.
